Maria Salzl
Program Manager, Richmond Fire-Rescue Administration
Maria started her career in emergency services as a member of the RCMP. She has worked in a number of communities in the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island in general duties (patrol), major crime and community policing.
In 2007, she retired from Richmond Detachment and joined Richmond Fire-Rescue where her main responsibilities are recruitment, community outreach and attendance management. Her most gratifying moments at work are when she gets to call successful applicants and tell them that they are going to be Richmond recruit firefighters!
Reporting to the Fire Chief, Maria’s role works in conjunction with the Fire Management Team, Human Resources and Occupational Health & Safety. Her work includes collaborating and managing various projects at the direction of the Fire Chief within Richmond Fire-Rescue.
When she’s not at the Fire Hall, you’ll find Maria at her small hobby farm in the Fraser Valley –– after growing up in a small farming community in Saskatchewan, she’s truly come full circle.
