Codes & Bylaws

Are you constructing a new building or managing one? Use these resources to access fire codes and read updated regulations in British Columbia.

The City of Richmond ensures the safety of Richmond’s built environment through regulating building construction and design.

We also enforce the BC Building & Fire Codes, as well as all other applicable standards and regulations.

Some of the regulations used to regulate the built environment are the City’s Fire Protection and Life Safety Bylaw No. 8306, Zoning Bylaw No. 8500 and the Building Regulation Bylaw 7230. These regulations ensure the buildings we live, work and play in are safe and equipped for effective emergency response.
