Government of Canada funding has fitted Brighouse Fire Hall No.1 with 136 solar panels, each rated at 435 W.

The system could generate 60,000 kWh of electricity per year (equivalent of what 5 homes consume per year) and provides continuous power to the fire hall.

Any excess power created and not used by the building is delivered directly into the energy grid.

The project will be completed by the end of July.
