SUMMARY:Burning of Chametz
DESCRIPTION:In\nthe weeks leading up to Passover\, the Jewish community cleans their homes\,\nscrubbing every nook and cranny to get rid of even the tiniest forbidden crumb\nthat might lurk there. For observant Jews\, this process includes meticulously\ncleaning everything food-related. \n\n\n\nThe\nbread collected is then burnt in a religious ceremony called bi’ur chametz\n(burning of the leavened goods). \n\n\n\nRichmond Fire-Rescue\, in collaboration with Chabad Richmond\, hosts this annual event at the Brighouse Fire Hall\, 6960 Gilbert Road.  \n\n\n\nThis year’s event is being held on April 8\, 2020\, between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

DESCRIPTION:Richmond is a respectful\, safe\, caring and connected community that values individual differences.  \n\n\n\nThis initiative from School District 38 was created to combat bullying in Richmond. Bullying is a reality in the lives of many young people\, affecting their education\, connections and opportunities to have a safe and healthy journey into adulthood.  \n\n\n\nRichmond\nFire-Rescue supports and participates in this day by wearing pink epaulettes. \n\n\n\n“Pink\nShirt Day” originated in 2007 when two Nova Scotia Secondary students gave pink\nshirts to people in their school to wear in protest\, after discovering a\nyounger student was bullied for wearing a pink shirt. This day has evolved into\na nationwide awareness campaign to ERASE bullying.
